The guest house parlor. The walls were made of different materials, with some interesting wood work in places. The cups on the table were filled with hot water, the usual Chinese welcome.

This is Pierre sitting in the main room, which functioned as the dining room as well as a sitting room. It had no back wall besides the bamboo growing outside. There is a sort of balcony behind Pierre, and some tree branches that have been stripped of bark and varnished. This is a common decorative idea here.

The bedroom that the women stayed in had walls made of bamboo sticks and nothing else.
